About Havasu Stitchers

Our organization was started on October 2, 1992, when 31 members organized and formed the Havasu Stitchers. It was at this time that we became a chapter affiliated with the Arizona Quilters Guild (AQG), located in Phoenix, AZ.

Our mission is to contribute to the knowledge of and promote the appreciation of fine quilts; to sponsor and support quilting activities; to encourage quilt making and collecting; and to contribute to the growth of knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles, patterns, history, and quilt makers through education.

Our general membership meeting is held on the second Thursday of every month starting at 6:00 PM. Our meetings are held at the Lake Havasu Senior Center. See the Events and Classes page for details. Come early to socialize, pick up kits to make projects for community outreach, sign up for classes, or buy tickets for our new "Let's Make a Deal" game.  Our Board meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the Lake Havasu Aquatic Center.  Please note, times and dates are subject to change based on other events, so please confirm on our home page or by email.

Every month we email a newsletter called “The Dangling Thread” with loads of information and updates.

We have a public Facebook group and a private Facebook group for our members to chat and post anything quilt-related. Check it out. You will be approved to the join the page once you are a guild member. Go to Facebook and search for "Havasu Stitchers Members Only." Or you can use the link on the Resources and Links page.

Educational opportunities are available through the Guild throughout the year. Some of the classes we offer are taught by our own members, while others are presented by educators, made available to us through the AQG, or by members of the quilting community at large. We also have activities such as Show & Tell at our meetings, and we are part of community events such as Balloon Fest and Winter Fest.

We are also committed to giving back to our local area through Community Outreach, when members meet once a month and stitch quilted projects and other items that are then donated to local places. Another event is National Quilt Day, held biennially, where we display our quilts and skills and collect non-perishable food to help supplement our local food bank.

The Havasu Stitchers does a biennial quilt show. The next quilt show will be held February 2026 at the Aquatic Center. We encourage you to become involved with this event by making a quilt to display and also by volunteering. It takes every member to make this gathering a success, and it is a ton of fun!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact one of the Board members or your current Chapter President.

Again, a hearty WELCOME!
