Have you ever bought fabric and later wondered to yourself, "What was I thinking?"  Gather up some of those odd, orphan, and -- let's face it -- ugly fabrics, and make an "Ugly Quilt," which will turn out pretty in the end!

No pattern is needed.  Just bring 20  12" blocks of different fabrics.  None of them need to match.  This will make a 40" by 50" top, and you'll add a border later, any size you choose.  The border fabric you pick later on at home magically pulls all the random fabrics together for a beautiful finish.  Not so ugly anymore!  This is a fast and easy project to use up those leftover fabrics and large scraps.

    Supplies:

    Sewing machine, 1/4" foot, thread.

Twenty 12" squares of mismatched fabrics.

Rotary cutter and ruler. If you have a large 60mm rotary cutter, bring that for the thickness of the fabric.

A 12" square ruler is helpful!  Please bring one if you have it.

Any other accessories you deem necessary.

If you are contemplating more squares, here's what you need:

    20  12" squares = 40" x 50" top, not including the border.

    24  12" squares = 40" x 60" top, not including the border.

    30  12" squares = 50" x 60" top, not including the border.

    35  12" squares = 50" x 70" top, not including the border.

Setup for classes begins at 8:00.

** Registrations must be paid immediately.  Your seat is not guaranteed until payments have been finalized.  Cancellations must be processed 5 days in advance of the event to receive a refund.

Tool Time Academy Classes are back for 2024!

Kim Pebley of Havasu Quilts and her talented assistants will continue to bring new Cut Loose patterns, tools, tips, and techniques to you.  These demonstrations will be taught before our general meetings each month at 5:15 in the room directly behind the meeting room at the Senior Center.  We will be dark (no meeting) for December 2024.

If you can't attend a session, you will still receive your pattern.  We will be trying out new products throughout the year, including some samples for you to try out.  Several months have extras and bonuses.

You can order the monthly tools at the meeting with Havasu Quilts (or in their shop), BUT you must pay for half of your order before it is ordered.

Cut Loose Press Pattern for this month is the Blooming Sunset Tablerunner.  Our tool is the Creative Grids Starburst 30 Degree Triangle Ruler.
